Well, my name is Amanda and I am 16 years old. I was born in El Paso Texas. I'm not sure where to start so I guess i'll give you the readers digest version starting for the beginning.
Well, my dad left my mom before i was even born. I was born into a family of 1 brother and my mom. My brother is very much older then me. He was 13 when i was born. My brother has had many problems in his life. They started way before I was born like 2 years anyways. My family is the traditional tight as hell family. So if anything go worng the whold family feels it. Ok so skip foward to when i was about 9 or so. My mom meets this guy. They go out for awhile and he asks her to marry him. Next thing you know they are married and he's moving in. Needless to say, I wasn't happy. Me and my step dad have NEVER gotten along. He trashes my brother causes me to get all pissed off and he lies and cheats. When I was younger I never said anything but now since I am older I say exactly whats up. I call him on all his bull shit and he hates it. My brother and I both think hes got a ruca on the side besides my moms. he lies to her about why there are creditors calling us 24/7. My moms really needs to drop him but she won't!
Well besides having to deal with him, I also get very worried with my brother. He has had a drug and alcohal addiction since i could remember. Recently I relize it more then ever. He has just gotten worse and worse. I love him to death and if anything were to happen to him i would die. He and i are so tight. Even through his problems he has always been there to see me through mine. Yeah, I definetly have my problems. I was starting to folllow the same road mi hermano went down. He just keeps pulling me back in. I was arrested for shoplifting on May 13, 2001. Great mothers Day present huh? Calling your moms to come get you cuz you been arrested. my moms grounded me ugly style for that and while being grounded my boyfriend and I broke up and the girl (mi mejor amiga) i was caught with has put all blame on me and will pobably get away with nothing. I never knew that your best friend was capable of getting rid of you that fast.
So basically my entire world has turned upside down. While all of this is going on I have been trying to get a music carrer going. So many people have told me that i have the voice and the style. So I cant figure out why im not getting signed. Mi familia thinks its cuz i come form the barrio and im latina. I dunno if thats it or not. Just the other day my brother went out doing drugs for two days (the most time he has stayed out) I was so scared. It may sound crazy but i sensed something was really wrong. I stayed up for those to days and waited for him to call me and tell me he was okay. He finally called me at 5:30 in the morning and told me that he was ok and that he was at home I know for sure that I have never been more scared in my life. Now I am hoping that he will get his life straight and do what he has been trying to do for soooo long!!!!!!!!!
I know my life isnt as bad as it could possibly be but the reason i have gone to writting this is because it makes me feel better and maybe people will see that life is only what you make it. If you are born into a bad situation you can change it. You just have to have the desire to want to. I'm not sayin that it will be easy but if you have enough desear algo you'll do it. One other thing I want everyone to know who reads this. Never take your familia or anything for granted. You never know when it can be taken from you. Stay safe and be tru to yourselves. Peace
